Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma Focused Cognitive behavioral therapy
CBT is a psychosocial therapy that positively effects an individual’s emotional, mental, and personal beliefs to improve social connections. CBT key concepts are the connections between the domains of thoughts feeling and behaviours. The premise is that if you can change or modify one domain then you are able to improve the connecting two.
Working to identify and modify unhelpful thoughts, feeling and behaviours can provide the participant with improved emotional regulation and social functioning.
Trauma focused CBT is an evidenced based methodology that is specific for children and adult to process and heal from traumatic events or experiences. This can include early childhood trauma, neglect and abuse.
When working with children we encourage a support parent, guardian to role model to work with the children at home; so as to the embed the mental and emotional healing strategies in their daily life.
This treatment is strongly recommended for the treatment of PTSD and early childhood adverse events.
